Description
A licensed Savannah guide will pick you up from your hotel, lodge, or Airbnb to begin the Vulture Safari and bush walk experience. The tour starts with a safari around historic Victoria Falls landmarks including the train station and Victoria Falls Hotel. Your guide highlights local restaurants, bars, markets, and points of interest along the route.
Next, the safari continues through the bush where you learn about the local flora, fauna, and the cultural history of Zimbabwe. The tour includes a brief stop to view the Zambezi Gorge and river below. If timing allows, you may see activities like the gorge swing, zip line, whitewater rafting, or jet boat rides on the river rapids.
Continuing by jeep, the safari searches for more wildlife before stopping at a large baobab tree with opportunities to take photos and shop local arts and crafts from a nearby market.
Depending on departure time, the safari proceeds to the “Vulture Culture” experience. After a short bush walk, guests arrive at a shaded viewing deck. The guide explains the endangered vultures' ecological role before attracting them by placing carcass scraps on the ground. Within minutes, more than 200 vultures—mainly hooded and white-backed—arrive to feed amidst dramatic wing flapping and jostling.
The vulture feeding usually lasts about 20 minutes. Afterward, the safari returns you to your original pickup point.
