Wasa Lodge - Kasanka

Zambia

Wasa Lodge is located approximately 12km's by gravel road from the main Kasanka National Park entrance gate, overlooking Lake Wasa which is home to resident hippo and crocodile as well as sightings of sitatunga and puku and a variety of birdlife.

The lodge is the main reception for the park and caters for day visitors, self-catering and fully inclusive guests with a dining room, bar and verandah overlooking the lake. Lighting is provided by solar power.

The lodge is ideally located for visiting the hide at Fibwe and bat viewing hides during the bat season when between 8 - 10 million Straw-coloured fruit bats visit Kasanka from October each year for 2.5 months to feed on wild fruits.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are conducted in open vehicles with sundowners enjoyed watching the setting sun then returning to the lodge with the anticipation of spotting some nocturnal wildlife.

Guided walks with an armed escort and / or guide can be arranged around Lake Wasa. Self-drive guests and day visitors are welcome to go on their own game drives through the park.
